Halloween is a special time of year in Nashville, and there are special events and activities throughout the season to make the event more special for your family. From ghostly hay rides to pumpkin patches, the Nashville area is filled with family-friendly attractions and events you will want to take advantage of while you are visiting the area.
Just a short drive outside of Nashville is the popular Loretta Lynn's Ranch near Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Year-round this 6,000 acre ranch is home to popular activities and attractions like horseback riding, touring the museum, and more. In October, though, Loretta Lynn's Ranch turns into a hauntingly fun place. From October 22 through October 24, 2009, you can take a spooky trail ride along several miles of scenic trails on the ranch. Along the way, you will be frightened by special effects as well as actors dressed as goblins, ghosts, and other creepy crawlies who pop out at you. Advance reservations are required for the hayride. On-site lodging is available, and other local hotels include the Best Western Harpeth Inn and the Quality Inn Nashville.
Just east of Nashville in nearby Lebanon, you will find the Cower Farms. This farm is open to the public in October for a pumpkin patch, hayrides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, and a straw maze. You can also spend some time browsing the goods and produce at the road-side stand at the farm. Please call ahead for dates and times of operation. Lodging nearby includes the Ramada Inn and Suites, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, and the Days Inn Hotel of Lebanon.
The Honeysuckle Hill Pumpkin Farm in Springfield is also a popular family fun spot. At the Honeysuckle Hill Pumpkin Farm, you will find acres of fun, including a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, hayrides, a cow train, a jumping pillow, pedal carts, an apple orchard, catfish alley, hillbilly pig races, and more. This venue is open to the public from September 19 through October 31. There are additional costs for the Honeysuckle Express, the Cow Train, and the Scream Creek Haunted Woods. This attraction is open daily. Area hotels include the Springfield Inn, the Royal Inn, and the Hampton Inn Springfield.
You can also head over to nearby Smyrna for the Walden Pumpkin Farm. Here you will find farm animals, a kiddie play area, a hay maze, and a variety of items available for purchase like gourds, Indian corn, and more. The Walden Pumpkin Farm is open from September 26 through October 31. Admission is free, but the hay ride and corn maze are a small fee.
