Nashville, Tennessee Temperatures & Weather Information

A common question that Nashville travelers present when planning for their Music City getaway centers around the weather. Because the city enjoys a fairly mild Southern climate, visiting any time of year is usually enjoyable with the right planning.

NASHVILLE IN THE SUMMER

  • Summer is one of the peak vacation seasons for travelers, especially for families with children who are out of school. Temperatures generally range in the upper-70s to upper-80s, but it can soar into the 90s during especially hot spells. Central Tennessee also frequently sees high humidity during the summer, so plan your attire accordingly.

Packing for Nashville Summer Weather

    • Loose-fitting clothing and shorts are recommended for sightseeing during the day, although early summer visitors may want to bring along a light jacket for cooler evenings. If you'll be spending a lot of time enjoying the outdoors in Nashville, remember to pack along plenty of water and a spray bottle of water to cool off on hot days. Hats, sunscreen, and other protection against the elements is also recommended.

NASHVILLE IN THE FALL

  • Autumn is a wonderful time of year to visit Nashville! During the days, temperatures are generally warm and enjoyable. By October and November, the humidity of summer is gone is replaced by pleasantly warm temperature, plenty of sunshine, and cool nights.

Packing for Nashville Fall Weather

    • Shorts, long pants, and short-sleeves are general ideal for autumns in Nashville. Nights and evenings can become fairly cool, so pack a few sweaters and light jackets to make sure you are prepared. There is also beautiful fall foliage to enjoy in and around the city, so your camera is a must for making the most of a fall getaway!

NASHVILLE IN THE WINTER

  • Compared to other American cities, Nashville enjoys a fairly mild winter. Average highs reach into the upper 40s, while lows generally stay in the 30s. Snowfall is uncommon and minimal, rarely amounting to much in terms of accumulation.

Packing for Nashville Winter Weather

    • Bring along a coat, jacket and warm shoes, but don't expect intense winter weather to dramatically impact your Nashville vacation. Dressing in layers will ensure you're prepared for whatever weather Old Man Winter springs on you in Nashville.

NASHVILLE IN THE SPRING

  • By the end of March, temperatures during the day are usually back into the upper 60s. From March through May, the average high is usually near 70 degrees, while lows can still dip into the upper-40s. Spring is also Music City's rainiest season, with nearly one-third of the year's average rainfall coming down in March, April, and May.

Packing for Nashville Spring Weather

    • Waterproof shoes and umbrellas are always a good idea to bring along. Lightweight ponchos generally will provide enough protection from wet weather without stifling you on warmer days. Be sure to bring along a jacket or sweater, especially for evenings that are somewhat cool. And remember - chances are that it will rain during your spring getaway, but proper preparation means that it should have no effect on experiencing a terrific time in Music City!
