The 100 Oaks Mall in Nashville, Tennessee, is considered the oldest mall in the area, going through several renovations to keep it a top-notch mall for locals and visitors. Located on Thompson Lane, its key outlet stores consisted of 5th Saks 5th Avenue, Reebok, Michael's, Dressbarn, Luxury Linens, Burlington Coat Factory, and Ross Dress for Less. Today it is being renovagted for a much different purpose.
Under their latest transformation, the 100 Oaks has become involved with hundreds of community leaders, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), area business representatives getting a look at the new plans for the 100 Oaks Mall. The most exciting change involved the VUMC leasing more than half the mall, creating a Vanderbilt Health which covers about 444,000 square feet of space.
With such dramatic changes affecting the surrounding neighborhood, the new mall not only will become part of the community but become its hub. Hoping to become complete by February of 2009, the current shops will be enhanced with a Cheeseburger Charlie's and a Logan's Steakhouse. With the VUMC opening, over 1,600 Vanderbilt employees are working at the clinics which are planning on bringing in over 1,000 patients a day.
On the outside, entry and exit points of Nashville's 100 Oaks Mall in Nashville has been redesigned with added safety traffic signals for patients, shoppers and employees. With so many things coming into place, the opening day for the first patients at the clinic will be February 23, 2009 with a new Vanderbilt police substation at the mall for added security.
